Fingers Crossed....

I can't believe we started new courses just this week. It feels like much much more. It's a sign of how much we've learnt and how much happens at this place every single day!

Global Markets is a great course taught by Rick Locke and Simon Johnson..looking at how globalisation, trade policies and politics impact on firms. Prof Johnson was Chief Economist at IMF till recently and so is a wealth of knowledge on the financial crisis.

The CEO of BP America spoke to us, a great guy and an alum of our class, as did the CEO of Nokia, with whom I had dinner later that evening. He was really honest and interesting leadership style, under-stated compared to what you might imagine from a CEO, but a great listener and obviously a wonderful leader. He believed sustainability was the basic a firm had to undertake, which was refreshing to hear. I think the Nordics are way more advanced than most.

George Soros came to launch his new book and speak to us all. He has cried wolf 3 times about the end of capitalism as we know it- is this time for real?

This weekend was Halloween and our class really outdid themselves on costumes and the party ended up being really wild.. perhaps cos we were all in disguise :-)
People also performed- flamenco dancing, singing...what a talented bunch we are!

And of course in 2 days time, the fate of the world will be sealed...the greatly anticipated US election..I am crossing everything I can, especially my legs.Chastity for the Obama Campaign!
