This week was a lot of partying....3 friends' birthdays, a long weekend, plus a Japanese night meant I was rather less productive than usual. But it was a lot of fun!

What is an MBA? I've come to think it's a secret handshake, an understanding nod between those who have one and conversations scattered with the buzz words..MIT probably does not have the best teachers, it definitely does not the best facilities, the students are smart but not necessarily more so than at other places...but it is all about the wider inspiration of being here- the labs producing exciting things, the possibilities of starting new businesses with a break-through cancer treatment or battery technology..the venture capital attracting ability of this place and the other huge thing is of course the network, which I have started to tap into - this sort of Free Mason-esque helping of each other. And the spotlight on MIT and the speakers who speak here.

This week we had Noam Chomsky speak to our class. I've always admired him but I was a little sad to see he was an 80-year old who was deeply unhappy with the state of the world. He seemed to like Europe, he definitely did not like the US and this I found quite refreshing as most Americans seem to love their country so much; it was fairly new to me to hear an American critique their land. And critique he did! But he did not offer many solutions and that was a shame. Obama's financial crisis advisors were the very people who had got us into this mess and rather they should be subpoened.'It's akin to having Bin Laden advise us on how to solve the War on Terror' he quipped, quoting someone else.
